Serendipity will, in part, be explored in this paper as a concept, a process and as factors, and a model of serendipity will be made to explain it as a process, taking its source form Makri and Blandford. The serendipity factors of Björneborn and McCay-Peet and Toms will be explained to provide a basis of factors whose properties the paper theoretically will try to transfer to an IIR system. Lastly the paper discusses whether this transference can bring about anything useful, with emphasis on pros and cons at the implementation of serendipity factors in an IIR system. It is concluded that the implementation of serendipity factors in IIR-systems could potentially have both advantages and disadvantages, and further investigation of these could be beneficial.
