This thesis investigates how public libraries in Denmark use social media, with Facebook as the primary case, to present titles from the physical as well as digital collections and make these attractive to users. The thesis asks the question of whether there are unused potentials for heightening user interest in these titles. Based on theories from current researchers on social media, the insights of Chris Anderson’s The Long Tail and the theoretical framework of Pierre Bourdieu regarding cultural and social capital, a toolkit of nine methods for creating particularly user-appealing presentations of library titles on social media networks is presented.
