Danish/original title: Kulturarv i en national og global kontekst: Belyst via teori og undersøgelse af dvd-serien Danskernes egen historie. Translated title: Cultural heritage in a national and global context: Examined through theories and an analysis of the DVD series The Danish own history. This thesis is about cultural heritage in a national and global perspective. The thesis will define the word cultural heritage. Furthermore, the thesis will deal with the interests, mechanisms and complexes that takes place when it is about: Some institutions work with cultural heritage. National and global factors related to cultural heritage. National and global factors related to parts of the DVD series The Danish own history, which shows the culture and everyday life in Denmark from the beginning of the year 1900 onwards. Primarily examines these elements with theories from Niels D. Lund, Bernard Eric Jensen, Kristian Himmelstrup, Peter Gundelach, Finn Rasmussen, Anthony Giddens and Lars Bo Kaspersen. Because they have experience with these elements. The analysis of the DVD series includes messages from the press and articles about the series and also reviews of the series. The thesis concludes that there is a cultura heritage which has to do with cultural objects (material culture heritage) such as films, buildings, paintings and books. Moreover, cultural heritage which has to do with intangible culture such as traditions, habits and customs. Cultural heritage is able to strengthen national identity, which can create a nation of people who feel they have something in common. Cultural heritage can provide knowledge about the past or bring happy or negative memories. Cultural heritage is the culture which sought continued. One problem regarding the communication of cultural heritage may be that not all people have the same opinion about what kind of cultural heritage, the future must focus on. It can create debate. Another aspect of cultural heritage is that it may be difficult to make a decision on who will be responsible for determining what must be declared as cultural heritage. About institutions work with cultural heritage, it can be stated that the Danish Ministry of Culture (Kulturministeriet) takes care of tasks such as music, theater, cinema, libraries, archives, museums, archeology, and broader cultural purposes, copyright, broadcasting and sports and also takes care of management tasks in relation to the governmental, public utility and cultural institutions receiving grants. Heritage Agency (Kulturarvsstyrelsen) is an agency under the Danish Ministry of Culture and working among other things to make rules on cultural heritage, protect, detect, develop and disseminate the cultural heritage in cooperation with municipalities, owners, institutions and associations and Heritage Agency provides advice to the Minister of Culture. Archives, libraries and museums perform a series of tasks dealing with storage, organization and dissemination of cultural heritage. Globalization leads to many of the same cultural products in many countries. Some believe that it destroys local cultures and therefore begin to focus more on their own local culture. It can be concluded that the creators of the DVD series with the series wants to show that Denmark is a country where there is a culture which has given people common experiences. The creators are intent on showing how the Danish daily life has been. While analyzing the dissemination of cultural heritage, or disseminate cultural heritage, it would be important to pay attention to topics such as what is the purpose of dissemination of cultural heritage, and how cultural heritage is when it comes to matters such as economics, marketing, perspective, availability, rules, identity, national and global factors.
