In this bachelor project a research of librarian’s educational approaches in two upper secondary schools is introduced. The purpose of the research was to investigate the characteristics of librarians work with information literacy in upper secondary school, and to compare the applied educational approaches to Sundin’s four theoretical approaches to the mediation of information literacy. The research was in the form of two trial interviews. The research findings showed that the librarians work is characterized by institutional, professional and social factors which affect their work significantly. It also showed that different theoretical approaches could be identified; in one case the approach identified was a fusion of behavior and process approach, in the other case the approach identified was similar to the communication approach, which is based on sociocultural theory. This approach indicates a new tendency in information literacy education.
