The main focus of this paper is how the libraries meet the experience and information need of the elderly audience , and whether this task can be taken over by the care centers.
The increasing difficulty in understanding new functions in the library, is due to the ever changing requirements from other users. These constant changes may confuse the elderly citizens, who may feel alienated by the library.
Care centers can not function as a library to these citizens, because, while the target group may be the same, the approach and goals are not. A care centers primary responsibility is to help and support their residents, which is clearly seen in their activities. The library must enter into a cooperation with the care centers, thereby meeting the elderly in the comforts of their own surroundings.
