Africa is the second largest continent in the world. However, the Western world have a tendency to define and articulate the African continent, as if all the countries are the same. Western countries convey development projects in Sub-Saharan African countries on a much to overall level. The concept of culture and cultural communication and dissemination is often overlooked or forgotten when implementing development strategies. Cultural communication and dissemination can create a better understanding and implementation of development projects, targeted the population in Uganda and Tanzania and an even greater effect for development in general.
The Danish International Development Agency, Danida belonging to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs articulate their development cooperations with Uganda and Tanzania in two ‘Country policy papers’. The two papers focus overall on the same developmental challenges and the same areas of development are described. Danida’s active and supporting role is articulated in the same way. By using the concept of culture and cultural communication as a method in development, it will make it much easier for international institutions and organisations to design development strategies that qualify with the populations cultural and knowledge background.
